You might have heard about Central Park in Bangkok – the new rooftop garden that opened in 2025 and you might ask yourself – is it worth visiting, or is it another Instagram hype. I can assure you that it’s 100% worth the visit. If you have already been to Terminal 21 and Icon Siam, skip the mall though and go straight to the rooftop garden – Dusit Arun. This is the star of this location and you’ll love it. It’s green, stylish and offers amazing views over the city. If you want to know more and if you’d like useful information on how to get there and when is the best time to visit, read on. I will uncover all of that in this post.

Going to Thailand?

Bangkok has a new “Instagram-hyped” spot every few months — and it’s exhausting trying to figure out which ones are actually worth your limited time versus another overhyped mall with a rooftop view.

This is not a new location. Once upon a time, between 1970 and 2019, the old Dusit Thani Hotel stood here. I’ve read on many websites that it was an icon of Bangkok and something of an institution. I don’t know if the hotel went bankrupt or if something else happened, but the city decided to make significant changes. Central Park is located right next to the famous Lumphini Park, and the Bangkok authorities are doing everything they can to develop the area nicely and create a city center here. Central Park is a step in exactly that direction.

A quick orientation – What is Central Park and Dusit Arun?

Dusit Central Park is an entire complex of buildings. Central Park is a shopping center with many stores and restaurants. I recommend checking out the food court on the lower level. There’s a wide selection of food and drinks. It’s a great place to have lunch before exploring the park.

Dusit Arun is the garden I’ll be discussing here, and it’s where most of the photos in this post were taken. The park was created on the rooftop. Tropical trees and plants were planted along wooden paths, which also offer views of the city.

Dusit Central Park is an entire complex—consisting of a shopping center, a garden, and three buildings: a hotel, a condominium, and offices. It is one of the most expensive locations in Bangkok and is highly prestigious.

The entire complex is located near the Sala Deang BTS station, at the beginning of Si Lom Road.

Dusit Arun – The actual reason to go

I had a chance to see the mall and it was a good experience, but I went there to see the garden. This was my highlight. Before I went I had thought that this was yet another Instagram fad, hyped by the influencers. However, it turned out that it wasn’t the case. The garden was beautiful and I spent a lot of time there. I can totally say that Dusit Arun and Dusit Central Park are worth a visit.

Dusit Arun, located near Central Park in Bangkok, is a green gem on the city map—a respite for the eyes, the spirit, and the whole body (though it might not be quite so fantastic here during the day, because it’s simply very hot). The entire park consists of four levels that you walk through as if they were stacked on top of one another. So it’s not a flat park, but rather a series of terraces connected by paths.

Dusit Central Park Bangkok, is it worth a visit
There are a lot of viewpoints, offering different perspectives over the city.

Everything has been designed with great care. Along the beautifully landscaped paths, you’ll see small waterfalls and streams. The park also has a few lookout points offering views of Lumphini Park, as well as the city, buildings, and the passing BTS train. The perfect spot for taking photos is the so-called “Bird’s Nest,” a circular terrace. It’s probably the prettiest spot in all of Dusit Arun. However, I’d encourage you to climb to the highest point, right next to the restaurant. It may not be quite as spectacular, but the view from there is also beautiful.

During the day when I was there, there weren’t that many people here. You could still walk around freely and take pictures. Apparently, it’s different at sunset, and that’s when the crowds really start to show up.

Dusit Arun is opened every day, from 6AM until 10pm. The entrance is free.

Dusit Central Park vs. other Bangkok malls

I had a chance to walk around the shopping mall, but because I had been to many of them in Bangkok, this one didn’t make such a great impression on me.

It is very clean, spacious and modern. It’s less funky than Terminal 21 and more fancy than EmQuartier. There is a good choice of cafés that are easy to find. During my stay I went to Terminal 21 and had a hard time to find somewhere to sit down and have a drink. There were also many more people comparing to Dusit Central Park.

I don’t have pictures from the mall as I found the garden much more appealing.

At Dusit I also liked the food court, which was very nice, had a lot of tables and a good choice of food. This was definitely a big advantage for me since I went during lunch time and was a bit hungry.

My honest and general opinion is that it’s yet another Bangkok mall, which might not be that impressive to people who have already seen other similar places in the city. I think the garden is the biggest highlight here and only for that it’s worth coming here.

Food and shopping worth knowing about

I didn’t spend that much time in the mall itself. I didn’t go there just to shop. I was more interested in seeing the park, but I can also recommend the mall itself if you want to spend a little money.

Most of the chain stores are on the third floor. There’s Columbia, The North Face, and Zara. I recommend checking out the small Tropicfeel stand. I really like their shoes, which I always take with me when I travel.

The electronics section is on the fourth floor. Among the better-known brands, such as Xiaomi and Huawei, you’ll also find small stands selling accessories. They often have cheaper products than regular stores, and if you like gadgets, stickers, or phone cases, it’s worth taking a look around here, too.

There’s also plenty of food at Central Park in Bangkok. I ate at the food court and wasn’t disappointed. It’s located on the LG level—the lowest floor. The food here is cheap and good. Before you choose anything, head to the cashier. There, you’ll get a card loaded with the amount of money you choose. Then, you use that card to pay for everything. After your meal, go back to the cashier, return the card, and you’ll get the remaining balance refunded.

The garden is situated at the back of the shopping mall and there is a free entrance.

How to get to Dusit Central Park?

Use public transportation. The nearest BTS station is Sala Daeng, and the nearest MRT station is Silom. You can walk to Central Park from either station.

You can also order a Grab, which is a taxi or motorcycle taxi. Download the app to your phone, enter your card information, and order just like you would with Uber or Bolt. This is the best way to get around Bangkok.

There are also parking spaces in the shopping mall.

After visiting this garden, you can easily walk to Lumphini Park.

Is it worth visiting Dusit Central Park and Dusit Arun?

In my opinion, it’s definitely worth it. I didn’t have that high of expectations for these places. I thought someone had just overhyped them on Instagram again, but it turned out that the whole place is really interesting and pretty.

The shopping mall itself isn’t exactly spectacular. If you’ve never been to a shopping mall in Bangkok, you’re definitely better off checking out Terminal 21 or MBK. Central Park is nice, clean, and luxurious, but it certainly doesn’t make as big an impression as those more popular ones.

Visit Dusit Arun and enjoy the magnificent views over the city.

Dusit Arun, on the other hand, is wonderful. The views are beautiful, and the park itself is truly delightful. I’d recommend this area to anyone who hasn’t been here yet.

I recommend stopping by here for lunch, some shopping, and then a stroll through Dusit Arun. It will definitely be a completely different experience from visiting the Grand Palace or Wat Pho and will let you soak up the big-city vibe of Bangkok.

Also check out Chinatown and Talad Noi—neighborhoods that are also worth visiting during your stay in Thailand’s capital.

    Dusit Central Park – FAQ

    Is Dusit Central Park free?

Yes, admission to the shopping center and the garden is free.

What is the name of the garden?

The rooftop garden is called Dusit Arun and is located behind the Central Park shopping center.

Is the garden connected to Lumphini Park?

No, the garden isn’t directly connected, but Lumphini Park is very close by and can be easily reached on foot.

When did Dusit Central Park open?

The official opening was on September 3, 2025.

After a pretty intense photo shoot and a walk through the sweltering Dusit Arun, it was time for something cold. Luckily, right by the door leading from the garden to the shopping center, there was a small stand selling coffee and iced drinks. I ordered my favorite Italian Soda with passion fruit, sat down for a moment, and relaxed.

I visited Dusit Arun during the day, and despite the fatigue and heat, I had a great time. Next time, I’ll definitely go there in the evening to see what the garden looks like in the glow of the setting sun.
