Krabi Town is one of the most popular places in Thailand. It’s famous for the fact that it’s a great home base for trips to the beautiful beaches, but it has a great access to facilities such as hotels, bars and restaurants. Are you going there soon? Do you want to know how to get to Krabi? Read on!
I first stayed in Krabi, where I travelled to and from Railay Beach. I didn’t have an opportunity to see it properly back then because I suffered from a really bad stomach bug. Only now, during the last trip, I managed to stay longer. Krabi Town didn’t really amaze me, but I liked it. That’s why I think it’s really worth staying there for a couple of days, rent a scooter and go around to check out the area.
Many people come to Krabi Town because it’s very easy to catch transport to other places in Thailand.

When travelling around Thailand, you will stumble upon this town for sure. It’s not really special in any way, but there are a lot of things to see and do in the area and is a great break from the hippie vibes of the nearby islands. It’s also good to stay here if you want to save money on food and accommodation. You can take a boat to the islands every day, spend your time there and go back in the evening.
Krabi is a touristy spot, but you can rent a scooter and venture out, or you can take a boat to Koh Klang to find yourself far away from crowds and noise of the beaches.

Krabi Town has a small airport. You can fly there from Bangkok or Chiang Mai. It’s an international airport, so you can also fly here from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or Yangon.

There are red cars in front of the airport – so called songthaews, which will take you to the centre for 100 Baht per person. It’s good to have your GPS with you to know if you’re going the right way.
Sometimes, after leaving the truck, you need to order another taxi. You can do it via Grab application.

I can really recommend one place, where I stayed. Tara River is a family business which offers small rooms in a good price. It’s nothing exclusive, but the location is great – it’s close to the night market and the town centre. It’s also very quiet and peaceful.
Other places:
- Just Fine Krabi – great location, beautiful rooms and helpful staff.
- Family Tree Hotel – for thos that need a bit more. Really beautiful rooms with atmospheric café downstairs.
