Hi, I'm Joanna, the author of The Blond Travels. In the worlds of Thailand and Portugal, I feel like a fish in water - and it's no coincidence! I've been exploring Thailand for over a decade, and I've settled in Portugal for 6 years now. My mission is to support Dreamers - just like you - in discovering these fascinating countries and helping those in love with them find their own place on Earth, preferably for good! Let's uncover these unique corners of the world together.

The school year is finally finished. At the moment I am still at work, still getting up in the morning, only to come to school and sit without doing much. My contract expires on the 31st of March, so that’s the last day of work for me. After that I will have 2 months off. There are a couple of great things coming up.

A small trip in Thailand

My parents’ friends’ son is in Thailand. As it turns out he is a monk. How a Polish person became a monk in Thailand is a mystery for me at the moment, but I would really like to find out. I am planning on visiting him at the beginning of April and find out more about him.

Songkran

After the last Thai new year I was almost sure I didn’t want to spend another one in Chiang Mai, but because of certain personal circumstances, I am now going to spend it here. I am not really so keen on running around the city and getting soaked, but I am also determined to make the most of it.

My first writing assignment

Travelog – a great new platform for travellers – has asked me to spend 3 days in Bangkok. I am going there straight after Songkran, on the 16th of April. I am beyond excited. This is my first writing assignment! I treat it very, very seriously and am already working on the trip plan, using their app and website to help me get the most of the visit in the City of Angels. I will soon publish some more about the trip. Stay tuned.

India

India was never on my  list of countries to visit. I read once about a woman, who cycled around Kerala, and I thought the descriptions of the country sounded really nice. A few weeks ago I was thinking of where to go for my holiday, and then something reminded me of Kerala. I did some research and it turned out that Amma, the hugging mother, has her ashram there. I have never been to any meditation centre, nor to an ashram, but I am very keen on trying that. I hope to travel for 2 weeks, and then stay at the temple for the last 2 weeks of my trip. I am not planning too much. I do want to enjoy the trip and take it slowly. I simply cannot wait.

So, the next 2 months will be exciting and full of things to write about. Look out for my posts here and on Travelog.
