Hi, I'm Joanna, the author of The Blond Travels. In the worlds of Thailand and Portugal, I feel like a fish in water - and it's no coincidence! I've been exploring Thailand for over a decade, and I've settled in Portugal for 6 years now. My mission is to support Dreamers - just like you - in discovering these fascinating countries and helping those in love with them find their own place on Earth, preferably for good! Let's uncover these unique corners of the world together.

If you’re on Koh Yao Noi, you have a great opportunity to get to Koh Lanta quickly. Check how you can do it, how long the trip’s going to take and how much it will cost you.

I spent a great couple of days on Koh Yao Noi. Then I planned to go to Koh Lanta. Before I left I had checked how to get from one island to the other, but hadn’t booked anything earlier. I organised everything while in Thailand. If you’re also planning to get from Koh Yao Noi to Koh Lanta, you will find out how to do it from this post.

How to get from Koh Yao Noi to Koh Lanta

The only option is the ferry. It leaves from Koh Yao Noi at 8:15 in the morning. The trip takes from around 45 minut to 2 hours, with a layover in Ao Nang.

A taxi will pick you up from the hotel at 8:00. The transport is included in the ticket. You will get to the pier and when you’re there you will have to show your ticket. The cashier will give you a sticker, which you will need to put on your shirt. This way the driver will know where to take you.

The ferry is quite small and old. I don’t recommend sitting next to the window because of the big holes through which the water gets inside. There are toilets on board and a small shop with snacks.

My impressions from the trip weren’t the best. The weather was bad and there were huge waves on the sea. A similar boat had had an accident a few days before, which made me feel anxious and scared. However, I’ve survived the whole ordeal and can proudly say that I’m safe and sound.

The ticket costs 1500 Baht. You can buy it on Koh Yao Noi or online, which might save you some money and time. I always recommend 12GoAsia, which I always use whenever I’m in Asia.
